Job Description

The Department of Physics & Astrophysics at the University of Delhi is inviting applications from eligible and dedicated candidates for the position of Assistant Professor. The University is seeking an accomplished academic with a strong research background, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to fostering a vibrant learning environment. The selected candidate will contribute to the department's academic excellence through teaching, research, and administrative participation. Key Roles & Responsibilities: • Academic Instruction: Delivering high-quality lectures, tutorials, and practical laboratory sessions for Undergraduate (B.Sc. Hons) and Postgraduate (M.Sc.) students. Curriculum Development: Designing and updating course materials, syllabi, and lab manuals in accordance with the latest UGC guidelines and scientific advancements. • Research & Innovation: Conducting independent, high-impact research in specialized areas of Physics (e.g., Condensed Matter, Astrophysics, High Energy Physics, or Nuclear Physics) and publishing findings in reputed peer-reviewed international journals. • Mentorship: supervising and guiding Ph.D. scholars, M.Phil students, and Master's dissertations, fostering critical thinking and scientific inquiry. • Grant Management: Actively writing and securing research grants from national and international funding agencies (DST, SERB, CSIR, etc.) to establish and maintain research facilities. • Administrative Duties: Participating in departmental committees, examination duties (paper setting, evaluation), admission processes, and organizing seminars/workshops.
